Role: Sr. Experience Designer | Employed at SapientNitro
00 INTRODUCTION
Avnet was founded in 1921 and has since grown into a leading global distributor of electronic components, IT solutions, embedded technology and services. The site has 4+ million products with both regional and global inventories. The company’s core promise: “…accelerate our partners’ success by connecting the world’s leading technology suppliers with a broad base of customers to provide cost-effective, value-added services and solutions”
The define and discovery phase can be summarized with three findings:
“Create side by side” Move from product-focused model which limits experience to e-commerce to a service-oriented model which encourages more engagement with engineers, earlier in the design life cycle. The design lifecycle as navigation provides a familiar framework for engineers, enabling Avnet to more explicitly “follow” users at the onset of the lifecycle, not just purchase phase.
